Staying in the area for work for nearly two months now, so far and this seams to be one of my go to spots. Have tried several dishes for lunch and dinner and have always had good service and food.

Maybe I went on the wrong day, but the service was awful and the food just ok. All we ordered was ONE bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit and it took 30 minutes just to get it (there were 2 other customers so it's not like they were busy) and another 20 to finally get our bill (we asked for it as soon as they brought the biscuit). I won't be back. **UPDATE** Gave this place another chance for lunch and it was absolutely fantastic. I had the étouffée which was perfect and I could have eaten 10 more of the roll it came with. Fast service this time too.

Pretty good small place. Service is usually good. I've been here at least two dozen times and have only have one issue which was fixed asap. Good home town cooking and environment. Always a good choice.

Found this place after a long day. For a boy from Virginia it was a great choice for great local seafood. I had catfish over rice with étouffée. Fantastic!!

Nothing to write home about. Average food with okay service. I'd eat here again but it won't be my first choice.

This is a nice, quaint cafe that is a favorite among locals. I've been a couple of times and have eaten several of their sandwiches and breakfast meals. The sandwiches/po-boys can be hit-or-miss, but the breakfast is always on point. There are several succulent breakfasts to choose from, ranging from small meals to what I like to call hungry-man portions. The food always tastes fresh and, from what I remember of breakfast, is seasoned well without being heavy handed. Which brings me to my latest experience. Today I had an oyster po-boy. The breading on the oysters was very salty; definitely not the finesse I had encountered during other visits. Though the sandwich was not a loss - there was a delightful homemade tartar sauce spread on the bread. And the bread itself slightly muted the harsh salt of the oyster. I've had other sandwiches here as well - shrimp po-boy, club sandwich - which were very good. I'm in search of the best spots on the west side of the river, and I'm not sure that Court Street Café is the best, but it's definitely part of the discussion.

White Chocolate Bread Pudding...need I say more??? This quaint little restaurant is loaded with character from copper top tables to some of the best bread pudding anywhere! Daily lunch specials are served and SELL OUT quick! Definitely a good choice on the West Side of the Mississippi!

I suggest you avoid this restaurant for takeout at lunch time. I have been there several times and have only had bad experiences. I have had to wait ridiculous amounts of time and deal with rude employees. My experience today is what drove me write this review. I sat at their bar for half an hour, staring at my order in their kitchen window, waiting for someone to help me. All of the servers had better things to do apparently. I was about 10 seconds from walking out, my body already turned to leave, when a waitress finally decided to help me. My burger tasted like it came from a school cafeteria, and the meat fell apart as I ate it. I only ate a few bites before moving on to the chips, which j must admit were pretty delicious. Not enough to ever get be to go back there though. I have also tried the crawfish étouffée, which was disappointingly subpar.

It's been a while since I have had one of their steaks but the ones I did have were AWESOME! Perfectly seasoned and needed no other flavoring. 5 Stars

For the West Baton Rouge area, this is a great place to have! Are you looking for a place to satisfy your breakfast craving? This place has great breakfast offerings: omelets, french toast, biscuits, grits and much more! I am a sucker for a hearty omelet, so their Philly Cheese Steak Omelet was quite fulfilling along with their Veggie Omelet. All items were priced well with all their inclusions. As for lunch, they get pretty busy, so get there early! Whenever I see crab cakes on a menu, I am always eager to try them! Of course I get worried when a place is not know for their crab cakes because it may be too starchy and lack in crab. Their crab cakes were very flavorful and just the right blend of bread crumbs (starch) & crab meat! This is a perfect, little cafe and it is a wonderful place for breakfast and lunch.

Gotta love yelp when they help find places like this! Gumbo soup, homemade, is awesome! And the grilled fish sandwich was fresh, flaky and absolutely delicious. Great service, friendly staff!

We enjoyed lunch here. My husband and I were on our way west and wanted to get across the Mississippi River bridge that can get backed up. We checked yelp for reviews of places at the first exit. Court street cafe was great. Small place with 8 tables full at 2pm when we arrived. I got the French Dip sandwich and my husband got the special of the day- a plate piled with Italian meatloaf, salad, corn, wild rice, and bread for $7.99. Home cooking but healthy. Other dishes I saw around me looked good too. Green lettuce in the salad. Yummy white chocolate bread pudding.

Without going across the bridge into Baton Rouge, restaurant pickings in this side of the Mississippi River are a little slim. And so far my list includes DC's Grill, Cash's Truck Plaza, and the Court Street Cafe. I took my hosts to the Court Street Cafe for Lunch a few days ago. It's located in the residential edge of Port Allen is one of those small and homey neighbourhood places where everyone knows your name. It's also popular with the Plant folks and a welcome diversion from their work demands. The total bill for the 4 of us (including a 20% Tip) was around $55, which I thought was very reasonable. I had a perfectly good and hearty blue cheese burger (with fries or chips) and lemonade, while my colleagues ordered similar sandwich and soft drink combinations. The actual dining room is a bit small, but has nice light and warm colours. There was also plenty of time to chat and laugh, before getting back to work. The Court Street Cafe is also open early (6:30 AM) for breakfast and for Dinner. They are closed on Sundays.

I really like this place. It isn't perfect, but the food is very good for the relatively low prices and they have a good enough variety where most people would like something off the menu. I've been numerous times for breakfast and the seafood omelet is AWESOME. I highly recommend it. Also, the times I've been for lunch and dinner, their grilled chicken breasts are very good and with the green beans on the side, the meal is great. Tastes very healthy, which is unusual for Louisiana food. Waitresses are most always very friendly.

Guess I should have stuck with some delicious seafood on a Friday night, but the ribeye sandwich sounded delicious. It wasn't. I wasn't given a choice on how I wanted the meat cooked and didn't specify med-rare. The steak was overdone and tough. It was cut into strips which probably accounts for it being well done. The seasoning was also more salty then I prefer. On the other hand, my husband's shrimp platter was loaded with fried shrimp and cooked perfectly!

I was here on business and wanted something other than the usual chain restaurants. This is a nice little place off the beaten path. Great food at reasonable prices. Beer selection is very limited but the food is as good as it gets for authentic local dishes with a genuinely welcoming atmosphere.

I decided to change my initial bad review because of the lack of customer service. Subsequent visits to this place have been many times better than before--the customer service is MUCH improved. The food is decent--the prices are a tad bit on the high side and the menu is limited, however there isn't a lot to choose from on this side of the river. I much prefer this joint for breakfast. If there were a 3.5 star option, then that is what I'd choose.
